1a. Professional Profile

It seems like a lifetime ago arriving at a local hair salon for my first ever interview, which thankfully was a successful one! Starting the following week I was so proud to be heading to work to sweep up hair and make cups of tea, if only it stayed that simple...

Since then the CV has been adjusted many times to suit who I was sending it to. I have now found that it has become necessary to have two CV's one for my teaching work which is relevant to my 'day job' and the other is my performing CV as I still perform at corporate events & functions on a weekly basis. I have made this decision as I found putting all my work experience in one place meant my CV was far too long, but then to cut down would mean missing out information that the potential employer would like to see. This way I can easily send over the suitable CV for either the day or night job.

During my time at Stella Mann College in our IPS lessons, we went through how to set out a professional performance CV aswell as which informational to include about ourselves.  I feel that this CV is very much for informative purposes only, as more often than not when applying for a performance job you either audition or send in a show reel aswell.
Whereas when sending off my teaching CV I try to bring through more of my personality and share some skills learnt through each job I have had. However I do sometimes send my performance CV to potential teaching employers to show I have experience in the field. I think my teaching CV is too long as it is, which is why I haven't added the information directly on there, has anyone else done this? Do you think its something all prospective teaching employers would like to see?
The other way round however is not necassary, performance contracts aren't interested in whether you can teach or not.

For the purposes of the blog I have blanked out my personal information, which usually would be displayed.

  1. Thanks Lucy a lot of experience here and you have explained new pathways well. If an education pathway is your goal - begin googling the Module 1 ideas with that in mind.. communication for schools, teachers, children - what are the issues? idea? Children have lived with online devices and learn with them - but how?
